Red

I am glad you all like our fall colors!! They are so great that you can’t take a bad picture this time of year!
And in line with the season- there is a lot of red going around. Red sweaters, red scarves, red leaves. My knitting group Sit n Knit New York, hosted a meet-up for the red scarf project! Ya! We are going to send a few in Jan 2007 as a group. I think we’ll have a bunch!!
I started my second one. (The first is my Irish Hiking scarf in Decadence from KP)
The second one is a Fibonacci scarf from stash. I love how these stripes appear random but have a very specific pattern. I am using 8 colors. ( I opened my red bag and dove right in). I CO 40 st with US8 and I made one sequence of 1,1,2,3,5,8,13. By the way, the numbers represent a garter ridge, which is 2 rows, knit all stitches. (thats 7 colors) and it came out as 8”. I figured a scarf could be 56” (dividable by 8), so I need 7 sections. I made 3 sections, next- with the 8th color I knit 8” and started going down the other side with the other 7 colors to match the first side (13,8,5,3,2,1,1). I have knit much further along but today is so cloudy, so I will not photograph the progress.See this little close up below, this kind of knitting is the mindless kind, (love it at times, don't you?) and on one occasion (late night knitting is not for me, or maybe CSI was too engaging) I must have purled these 4 stitches. A concession to the gods, admitting I am not divine…

Im looking at CSI right now. Coincidence. Well, you are close to godness! That Fibonacci is really something for a math-freak. Great colours. And That red project looks great. And it takes more than just good colours to do great pictures. A photo genie!

I confess I'm neglecting other projects just to finish socks so I have leftover sock yarn to make Cool Stuff. Like your Fibonacci. That's wonderful. Wait, I could do it with entire skeins... or would that be cheating? I think it would be cheating. Besides, I want the socks :-)

The times I've started knitting something completely wrong, on automatic, and only noticed it later! Still, the colours of yours are so lovely, nobody would notice the imposter stitches.

Red suits you, by the way.

your scarves are great!! The fibonacci one is marvelous. Yes, I love mindless knitting, butthe timing of the colors makes you believe you really are using your mind! Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, I will try to take photos at the knitting session in the EZ display; however, the lighting was "museum" lighting so as not to damage the fabrics (the gallery is a fiber design gallery that shows many, many fabulous fibers and creations over the years) and I'm not sure they will permit photos. We'll see. You can check it out at www. newschoolknittingexhibition.org. Happy scarf knitting.

The scarf looks so pretty. I get errant stitches every now and then. I often wonder what I was thinking at the time.

Those are some fantastic autumn colors from NY - I always think a lot about upstate NY during fall - probably because I spent a year there a zillion years ago and never saw such breathtaking fall colors in my life!
Your scarf is looking wonderful - I love the way you make the colors look like they're having a great time together! Suits you so well!

Lovely colors! I've been secretly wanting to knit a simple garter scarf, something about all those ridges, and yes, I could definitely focus on the tv more too! ;)
