How are your holidays?

My Christmas weekend was not very pleasant. I had spent it at a good friend's house and while my friend and his wife were great, some of the other guests were hard to take. I shall not bore you with the details. Its over and done with.
So I did the only thing any sane person would do to "tune out" I KNIT! Ya! When packing I grabbed 2 random skeins of Noro Kureyon, had no idea if they match, and size Us9 addi circs. I have been wanting to make the Child's Rainbow from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. (See Steph’s version of it here.) This is a great stitch (mistake rib) to knit while you might be distracted and or upset... I also wanted to see if Noro magic will work again even with random skeins. I think it does! This is for my cousin's 14 years old daughter, so I made it a bit shorter, only 2 skeins. Some bits of Noro trivia: there were no knots in either skein. One is very old. One skein was 6-7 yards shorter. I had to add a bit from a left-over bag. At one point, the 2 skeins had the same color. I managed to start and end with pink, without planning.
So this little holiday wreath like arrangement is my last ECF for 2006!
My lists, BTW, are cooking, still cooking...

See, isn't knitting a useful skill when dealing with difficult people? And instead of an ulcer, you get a great scarf out of the deal! This is why knitters will take over the world. We're just smart like that!

Those colours are truly lovely. I'm glad you had your knitting with you during such a frustrating time.

And if somebody gave me such a scarf I would wear it every day I could.

Knitting is a great way to escape unwanted influence! No need for Prozac then.
Love the scarf. Made it myself in some other yarn but I really must try to get some Noro in my hands.
Happy New Year!

The scarf look great! I think knitting has got a lot of other "effects" besides making different garments. Fortunately, relaxation and tuning out are some of them. Hooray for knitting :-)

Your scarf is really cute--especially since it made your happy during difficult times! Thanks for your comments on my blog. The basket of knit items turned out to be a good idea--but I was required to knit more items than were necessary. I need to refine the idea.
