WIP and FO.

So, I have been knitting.Red Scarf Project - one done.
Irish hiking scarf
Knitpicks Decadence Winter Berry(alpaca- yum!)
Really enjoyed making this. It went fast! I tried cables without cable needle.
Hated it.

Hat- dedicated to Di Gilpin, who gave us the Scottish tweed and encouraged us to knit with colors. (Courtesy of Rowan) The hat is Coronet from knitty. The yarn is Rowan Scottish Tweed DK in unknown color names (no bands). I call it free form Fair Isle for Fall. Say it 5 times fast… very pleasant to knit with, and softens much after bath. Nice and warm.
Tried the cable without cable needle here as well; thought different yarn would do the trick. Hated it.
Ribbed Cardi in Knitpicks 100% Wool of the Andes in Firecracker. At $1.99 a skein (you need 10-11) you can’t go wrong. (It does not split but it does have these little annoying splices) Fun, fast, fab! Almost done with sleeve # one, which I am knitting in the round. When I started the sleeve, I had only one skein, so I did not make two at one. So sue me… I LOVE this pattern. Now I want to make it in the Rowan Scottish Tweed.

Getting ready to knit the next installment from the Petal Collecting. Toe up, lace. Just what I need to learn/ practice. Can't wait to start it!
As you can see, I have been practicing my lace, Seasilk in blue, in the wave pattern. It does not smell like seaweed to me. Maybe when you wash it and block it.
And that little bit of blue in the back? Austerman Step glove! Brilliant. If it has Aloe and Jojoba oil in it, it’ll be perfect for dry hands. Will I make it a full glove or not, I am not sure. It moisturizes as you knit. How does it do after a few washes? Anyone?

I love your red scarf! That yarn is my absolute favorite; so afforable, but so luxurious and the color is fabulous.

You HAVE been busy. What lovely scarves, and the hat is quite cooool. I looked at the instructions for cables w/o cable needle and thought they looked really fiddly. I don't think I'll try it.

What a lovely lot of knitting and information :-) The colours on that hat are beautiful, perfect for the season, the blue sea silk is magnificently blue, and I hadn't heard of Step. What we miss out on over here... I cable without a needle on some items, but not others -- I think some yarns are untrustworthy, too slippery to hold the loose stitches.

Love the hat! Freeform Fair Isle sounds intriguing. Cabling without a needle is fine for socks, but for other things I prefer the traditional method.

Wow, you have been busy! The sea silk looks like it's knitting up beautifully.

Wow! You've been busy! And here I can't even get a pair of socks finished. I will hang my head in shame.

What stitch pattern are you using with the Seasilk? That's really lovely. Some of the Seasilk I've had smelled like seaweed, and some didn't. After bath & block, I didn't notice the smell at all.

And can I add my voice to the chorus? Step for gloves -- Brilliant!

Wow, you've been so busy! Your scarf looks really great, and I can't wait to see the finished cardi.

Step for gloves, what an idea! Step gloves and mittens will be popping up all over the blogsphere, you don't know what you've just started! :)

I love the colors of Rowan Scottish Tweed, but then I rubbed a ball across my arm. Scratchy like a brillo! I'm glad to hear it softens a lot after washing, maybe I shouldn't dismiss it so quickly. The glove looks great!

Wow! Great selection! I'm glad I'm not the only one with loads of things on the go at once! Love the hat!

The hat looks great. The sea silk, aloe vera, jojoba oil - there really are a lot of things going on in the world of knitting :-)
