Socks History

Lolly encouraged all 1797 of us to write about our socksual history. Well, to cut it short, since you have to read the other 1796 socktoberfest participants... this is my very first sock. It will forever remain a singleton, since it was a test sock, knit with some leftover Koigu. My friend Barbara taught me how to knit socks, only a few years ago, and I have been knitting for "a few" before that. I was terrified of the heel business. Imagine that! I made only two and a half pairs until Jan 2006, and 8 pairs since Jan 2006, with the inspiration of my knitting buddies at my local knitting group, Sit n' Knit NYC. What helps is the Internet explosion of hand made yarns, patterns and all of you; your work is great inspiration! It is also your fault I have a VERY long list of socks to knit. As I said before, the list will be reviewed and updated from time to time........I have decided to air my WIP, bring them all into daylight, so it will inspire me to finish them sooner rather than later... I dare you all to flash your WIP! No more hiding in the dark...
Oh, and by the way feel free to leave a comment. It's nice to hear from you! Cause its all about the global knitters community, ain't it?!

Flashed my WIPs a week or more ago - they're still pretty much the same ones, with progress on each...
Love the green sweater!

That green jumper is GORGEOUS. You've chosen such glorious colours. Hope we get to see it modelled.

I only have two WIPs at present. I obviously need more.

I cranked out a bunch of WIPs last week, turning them into FOs. I better get casting on today!

This might be my first comment, but I have been lurking for a while.

Nice WIP pile! I don't think I have a table big enough for all of mine. Or a floor - LOL! Love the colours in that log cabin.

Hila, the more I read of your blog the more I notice things we have in common. :) Crocs, the love for special yarns, and being scared of knitting the heel on socks..... my first never even got to the heel stage and since I can't find the rest of the yarn anymore I can't even finish it. Pathetic! :)

And I'm so booked to go and meet you in London. That is what I call a fan-club ;-) I agree, the green Sweater is yummy. And Socks... very interesting! Socks are so great! 3 more days until we meet.

Love that sweater! That's just yummy.

My WIPs are all in my sidebar for all to see. Some have been with me faithfully through the years so long that I almost hate to finish them.

So I start new ones. :-)

I have been struggling to finish my works in progress before starting anything new. You can do it!! So far, I've finished a pair of socks, a vest, a baby blanket, a cardigan. I've made some progress on a shawl that is 4 years in the making. I hope to post a progress report tomorrow! Your pile of unfinished items seems quite small and manageable.....

Hurray to you for flashing your WIPs. I did it back in August when I joined UFO August. It did inspire me to get a few of them done. Good luck!

WIPs? I have a list on my sidebar...I was surprised! Finished two of them over the weekend. I think keeping a tally helps me stay focussed?
Have a great trip!
(((hugs)))

I just posted about my WIPs - though that's not all of them! But I expect to complete mine soon. I still have to do a real sock; did a mini practice one where I did the heel - wasn't so bad but now I have to remember how to work in the round! (yikes)
Love your blog!

Your green jumper is gorgeous, one day I might gather all my WIPs in to one place, but I think it might be a little scary! The odd socks are bad enough.
