I started this in 2006, but it got too messy because I could not "get" the pattern. lace…. 
But now, I was ready to try it again. 
I don’t really like lace, too much “thinking” and not good for TV watching, but I got to try again. 
Notes to self: 
do not knit lace at night! do not drink and lace, don't carry an important conversation while attempting lace.

After a few attempts again this year, I finally understood where I went wrong- it has to do with the last repeat of each section in the RS rows. the first one is correct, but 3,5,7 should say- * -* to X stitches before end of row, and now do the last repeat differently. 
it drove me crazy!!!

5/22-DONE! after washing and blocking, this is softer, but still not fluffy like alpaca. I think it will be nice and warm in fall and winter.

Riihivilla Hat

Another project from stash!! I bought a mittens’ kit from Riihivilla (Riihivilla-natural dyeing, plants, mushrooms and pure finnsheep wool lovely to work with, and the subtle colors are amazing.) but I realized I am not in a mood for mitts, so went for a hat, with a liner band.

Committed to knitting from stash! Rowan Felted Tweed DK Knit Picks City Tweed DK US 6 - 4.0 mm Based on the ships & seaside pattern. the final measurments- 8.5”x 48” all around, blocked. Love the way the felted tweed feels, especially after it blocked so nicely. great stitch definition, but still great drape. Very proud of my kitchner!

Warming up to Mohair

For a long time pure Mohair was too itchy for me, byt the combination of Mohair and Silk can be lovely! Light and fluffy, soft as a cloud, and yet warm! This one in Rowan Kid Silk Haze Stripes (Kaffe Fasset colors), US 8 knit in the round and 3 needle BO with CO edge.

At the Market

So many knits! My friends suggested I try to sell them, so, after much charity knitting, I am now selling at the GreenFlea market and on Etsy. Come and visit me on Sunday, 12/11 10-4, at GreenFlea, 76 street and Columbus Ave in NYC.

Snowctober!

A snow storm hit NYC yesterday, so of course I drifted into my LYS, in my hand spun hand knit hat, and Malabrigo cowl. What else is a knitter to do on a snowy Saturday in October???
